Salon Kinky – A Fetish Cabaret
Salon Kinky is SGLC’s first fetish cabaret and in fact our very first cabaret show.
Salon Kinky aims to overturn the popular conception of choirs as being elite musical groups or genteel, strictly asexual places. That's not at all who the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir is, and it's time we showed the world our sensual and humourous side.
The show was devised and directed by choir members who will transform Marrickville Town Hall into Salon Kinky - a cabaret club, presided over by ‘The Madam’ and her band of sleazy cabaret artistes.
“The concept for Salon Kinky developed from a desire to acknowledge some of the less public aspects of lesbian and gay life“ said Sarah Penicka, SGLC’s Musical Director “I think that we can be so concerned with presenting a wholesome image to the rest of the world that it's not unusual for aspects of our sexuality to be pushed aside. Salon Kinky celebrates a huge variety of sexual tastes, providing our audience with a sometimes humorous, sometimes provocative, and always enticing exploration of the fetish scene.”
The numbers draw on all styles of music from opera to children’s songs, but this is not a show for the kiddies as adult themes will be explored and Salon Kinky will be a licensed venue on the night.
Patrons are encouraged to wear appropriate attire for an evening at a cabaret or fetish club and be prepared to be amused, intrigued, shocked and spanked!
