random stuff

The neighbours kids were singing Happy Birthday a little bit ago... was tempted to go knock on the door and ask if I could borrow a piece of cake... mmm... cake :)

Speaking of being a fatty boombah, I've seen enough episodes of The Biggest Loser to know that they get all preachy about their "programme" not being a diet, but rather a lifestyle change, and they're all about eating well and exercising and blah blah blah... which is a crock of shit to start with because eating carefully controlled meals and exercising 8 hours a day with the goal of losing up to 7kg a week is NOT realistic or healthy or a valid lifestyle... but even if we leave that aside, I wonder how they justify selling meal replacement products under the Biggest Loser brand? There're ads all over TV at the moment advocating replacing two meals a day with a "healthy and tasty shake, soup or bar" from this range of products... Sorry, but that's not healthy, it's not a lifestyle change... it's a short-cut solution to drop weight fast, which will go straight back on when the person stops replacing their meals and starts eating again... it's just yo-yo dieting which has been proven to be more detrimental to health than being overweight. Grrrrr....

Macy seems to have dandruff... it's not attractive, even on a cat... I'd wash her with anti-dandruff shampoo, but that would mean washing her and that's too scary... I've been brushing her lots the last couple of days, and getting SO much fur off her, she's shedding like crazy at the moment... I have four felted Macy-fur balls the size of ping-pong balls now... she likes playing with them :)

I am craving roast pumpkin and peas... nom nom nom...

I watched The View today... well, I had it on while I was writing stuff... Whoopi was wearing spats... phwooooaaarrrr!!!! Saying the quiet thing out loud again... I have such a squishy for Whoopi... smart, funny and hot... oh yeah :)

la la la I should go to bed...

i nearly applied to enter, I have the biggest crush on the commando. I would work really *hard* under his externall influence

I have to say, I've thought about entering as well.. but only as an experiment to prove how stupid and pointless it is... but they probably have some clause in the contract restricting contestants from talking to media if they gain weight back after the contest is over...

LOL I watch the View too, although Daddy calls it my "girly show". I like Whoppi (but not the way you do).. Joy Bayer is hysterical too. Now if only republican aliens would beam down and kidnap Hasselbeck and take her to their planet- oooh she gives me a giant pain and not in a good way either. Never have forgiven her for setting Rosie up the way she did with a lil help from the "Viewmaster".

See I've only recently discovered The View, and I'm rarely ever home when it's on as it's smack in teh middle of the day when I'm at work... I only see it maybe once every month or two ... so I don't know all the background or people... the only ones I recognise are Whoopi and Barbara Walters...

OK quick View cast 101:
Joy Bayer is the red haead - a stand up comedianne and former teacher. Very intelligent and very funny. She once said when discussing gay marriage that Brittney's many mariages were a threat to the sanctity of marriage not two people of the same sex getting hitched.

Sherri Sheppard is the african american comedianne - also hysterical and open minded even if she is a southern baptist.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck is the young republican fan who got famous after being on Survivor Africa..

and Whoopi and Barbara you know.

I have always been a Whoopi fan. I even saw her doing stand-up in Sydney years ago. Love her movies too. If you can, rent a comedy VHS of hers called "Fontaine - why am I straight".. it's from the '80s and absolutely foul mouthed and hysterical. She also did a best of through HBO not long ago which is very good too.

Damn it now I gots to go find me a Whoopi Icon.

Anti dandruff shampoo can be quite toxic to cats keep brushing and feed her food that has a high fish content (if she will eat it) it will help her build up natural oils in her coat. Advice over. I miss you that is all xo

I miss you too darling... but you'll be coming to visit soon :)

Thanks for the advice.... I wasn't totally serious about washing her with anti-dandruff shampoo... mainly because trying to wash that cat is like taking your life into your own hands... but good to know it's toxic!! I shall buy her some tuna, she likes that...

*hugs*

I thought the same about the 'Biggest Loser' diet. There are so many similar ones advertised during day time TV, it's no wonder stay at home mums seem to think there's something wrong with their body shape.

Anyway, you're right. It's a complete crock. If people stick to drinking their two shakes a day, they will lose weight - however, once they reach their goal weight, they haven't learnt anything about nutrition, good health, or eating sensibly, so they just go back to eating the way they always did, and get depressed because they have somehow 'failed'. And, so, the cycle starts again, and they get back on their starvation diet as a way of punishing themselves.

It really irritates me, as you may have been able to tell. I'm seeing more of those ads now that I don't have Foxtel. God, I miss Foxtel...

The number of diet-industry ads will drop off a little in a few weeks... January is their boom period, taking advantage of everyone who made the new years resolution to lose weight this year... and again in September/October when they start scaring people about being seen in a swimsuit... it's just really annoying and anger-inducing in the meantime, and you're absolutely right, it's no wonder that stay-at-home mums lose confidence in themselves... shame diet industry, shame!!
