busy busy busy
Apr. 5th, 2005 08:57 pmI have exactly 7 more work days in my current job, and i'm starting to feel a rising sense of panic that i'm not going to get everything done... i am so flat out at the moment, and last week we found out that the new secretary who was supposed to start this week decided over the Easter weekend that she was not coming, which kind of screwed me because I was going to hand over the project I've been working on for the last few months to her to finish, since she's not coming now my boss shrugged and said "well we'll just move the deadlines forward and get it finished before you go on leave" (yes, he keeps saying "on leave", seems to have trouble grasping that I'm LEAVING, as in, not coming back...), so I have been working my twat off trying to get the draft finished so that the executive can review it on Friday at their monthly meeting, rather than NEXT month as originally planned... I was at work till 7pm last night, and 6:45 tonight.. it's ridiculous... my desk looks like the file and paper-scrap monster threw up on it which just irritates me and makes it really hard to concentrate on work, I keep finding myself getting sidetracked into tidying things into piles and re-sorting piles into new priority stacks... the "Urgent" stack is getting enormous... not terribly practical to categorise everything as "urgent"... ironically I'm enjoying my job now probably more than ever, I actually like being really busy (although, being really busy and still being able to leave on time would be nice!) and I'm seriously amazed at how many people are stopping by my desk to tell me they're going to miss me, very good for the ego that is! On the upside I convinced my boss today that we'd be better off leaving one of the planned sections out of the report i'm doing, which will save me about 10 hours of work WOOHOO!!!
Need to sleep... didn't manage much of that last night, too much stuff bouncing around my head, was still wide awake at 2am... oopsy!!
