woo for wednesday

Yesterday was a strange day... work sucked majorly, within half an hour of arriving at work I had had not one but TWO abusive phone calls from people I had had lengthy discussions with on Tuesday, who had both apparently taken the time over Tuesday night to think about things and work themselves up into a state which they unleashed in my direction on Wednesday morning. The first one wouldn't even let me speak or correct her inaccuracies, just ranted at me for two minutes and then said she was going to complain to Clover Moore and hung up on me. Two minutes later I answered the second call for the day which was a man who had been completely fine and understanding about why he didn't qualify for a podiatry service on Tuesday, ringing to rant and yell at me about not us not cutting his toenails, and telling me he was going to ring Today Tonight because it's just a scandal that we call ourselves community health and he's part of the community but we won't see him. *sigh*. Kinda had to agree with him really... managed to sort it all out and he seemed satisfied enough at the end of the conversation, but then again, he did on Tuesday too. I'm still half waiting for the sleazy tabloid journalists... About 5 minutes after I got off the phone from him I answered the third call of the day, which was a representative from Clover Moore's office following up on a complaint from caller number one. Fucking Super. Spent an hour or so, and numerous phone calls, sorting that one out...

Then I got to go make myself a coffee, that was good. A little while later I had a very tense discussion (read: stand up argument) with the receptionist, who bullies one of my office sharers mercilessly, and who refuses to do any work for general health in spite of being receptionist for the whole building, because she worked for mental health before the merge (which, by the way, was like 7 years ago), and still considers herself to only work for them. She's rude, unprofessional, lazy, incompetent and she seems to have only three ways of interacting with other staff - sucking up, bullying or avoiding. Yesterday she was ignoring general health clients coming in for the continence clinic, and eventually came into our office to tell my coworker that she had to come out and let them through to clinic because she was too busy. Letting patients through to clinic involves pressing a button on the desk to unlock the security door beside reception, and telling them to follow the hall down to the clinic waiting area. Too busy to do that. It takes no more time than telling the patients she doesn't know anything about the continence clinic (bullshit) and they should just wait until someone comes to get them. Got plenty of time to come and stand over Ling Ling and tell her she has to do it though. Grrrr...

What sort of job can I do that is admin based, earns good money, and doesn't involve having to deal with anyone else more than an absolute minimum??

Last night was snooza_smurf's farewell coffee/dinner/drinks, so Hunter picked me up from work and we joined Donkey and her beloved and sundry others for coffee at gelatomassi in newtown then dinner, and then I gave Suze big hugs and left them to head off to the pub while I headed home. I'm going to miss her... she always makes me laugh and she's a bit lovely really, but I'm glad she's so happy and in love and excited for her starting this next chapter in her life :)

Because I'm poor and couldn't afford to give her a farewell/birthday present that was "very expensive" as she requested, I made her art instead... I was quite proud of the way it turned out and she loved it (phew!!) so that was good... I scanned it at work yesterday before giving it to her last night so I could keep a copy of what I'd done..
