catching up

I've been so slack with the journalling of life, but I'm working on catching up...
It was so unbelievably lovely having the Goddess here for a full week around my birthday... she arrived on Wednesday the 20th in the late afternoon, and as I got off the bus to meet her at the airport it started bucketing with rain... it kind of kept raining for most of the time she was here but given that when she arrived at Christchurch airport to head over, it was 4 degrees celcius and sleeting (at 1 in the afternoon), she was happy enough with 20 degrees celcius and raining! The first evening we caught up with Ange and had dinner in Newtown, followed by gelati. I've been telling Ange and MIchelle both that they remind me of each other for ages, but then when it came to meeting I had a panic (on the inside) that they wouldn't like each other for some reason... panic was for nothing, they got on really well and it was lovely having my two favorite girls together. The next day M and I spent at home, watching the rain, watching DVD's and catching up on chats and hugs. Day two, Friday, we ventured out to Paddy's Markets and spent many hours wandering around, bought a whole heap of delish vegies (I've not done the vegie shopping at Paddy's Markets... sooooooo cheap and good!), bought a few other bits and pieces, and then headed home again. That evening we cooked dinner for Ange, and I then subjected them both to a practice run of a Piercing Workshop I put together with the idea of maybe one day stepping up to the SLPA roster of presenters. It was good having them both there, as Michelle knows very very little about the kink world (other than what she's gleaned by reading my LJ and talking to me), and Ange knows lots, especially about needles. Got some good feedback and things to work on, so was good!
Saturday, the day before my birthday, I got my present from best boy, which was of course High Tea at the QVB, with surprise Michelle. I've already written about that briefly, but I will just say again that it's such a fun and lovely and decadent experience, and I felt incredibly spoilt! At some point in the future I would love to organise a High Fetish High Tea, get the urban family together in full fetish wear and descend on the Tea Room for High Tea, t'would be fabulous! After high tea we wandered through the QVB and explored shops, lots of fun had in the toy shop! General fun and silliness and touristing and in spite of gorging at High Tea we managed to have cupcakes and coffee later in the afternoon as well (mine was pink with sparkly pink sugar crystals on top)...

Best Boy and Goddess - Cupcake Joy!
Sunday, my birthday. Woke up to Dad ringing to wish me a happy birthday, and then Michelle busting into my bedroom to photograph me on the phone in bed... I asked her to photodocument my birthday as I wanted to do a photoblog of the day, so she did... I forgot to download the photos before she went though so she's posting them over on a disk... Anyhow, after getting up and getting organised, we headed in to the Courty for lunch. I won brunch for two aaaages ago at Bingay and had hung onto it my birthday, so we dined rather superbly for NIX which was a fabulous birthday treat.

My lunch, twice roasted lamb on sweet potato mash with pesto gravy... the meat just fell apart, I didn't even pick my knife up once... soooooo yum!
During the afternoon we were joined by most of the urban family for drinks, and I did get a little bit silly... at one point there was drinking from a jug of cider with a bubble-tea straw (they're very large straws, lots gets through!). So classy! Somehow, it came up that Michelle had always wanted to model for a life drawing class, and I agreed it was something I've always wanted to do as well, and not missing an opportunity, Joe immediately jumped into organisation mode... before i knew it, there was a venue and a crowd organised for that evening! Joe very kindly drove us home to get organised (I think maybe he was making sure we didn't run away!) and then onto the Den for nakedness! There ended up being 8 people making art, and Michelle and I sitting naked (well, mostly, Michelle kept her undies on, and I kept my socks on... again, classy!). Now, I'm usually reasonably happy to get my kit off if there is an audience involved, but Michelle is a very very shy person, and somewhat body-conscious, so I was sooooooooo incredibly proud of her... it was a bit intimidating for me to get naked in a small setting like that, knowing that people would be scrutinizing my body, rather than watching a performance in which I happened to be naked, but for her, she went to a house she'd never been to, with a bunch of people she'd never met before that day, and some she hadn't met till half an hour before being naked in front of them, and she did it. She trembled for the first half hour, but she did it. SO PROUD! And can I just say, some of my friends have amazing artistic talents!! The drawings were gorgeous, and even more gorgeous was that everyone gave their drawings to us to keep. I know Michelle is going to be framing them, as am I! We also gave Ange permission to photograph, and she took some incredibly fabulous photos, I will be posting a selection when I do the full photo blog of my birthday.
Seriously, best birthday I've had in a long time, I am so grateful to everyone who was there throughout the day and evening and contributed to making it so wonderful.
Monday, Michelle had a massage booked with the massuese she used to see before she moved to NZ, out at Thirlmere, so in the morning her aunt and uncle - Raquel and Charlie, dropped one of their cars over to my place for us to use for the day, and we headed out to Thirlmere. Michelle got her massage and we had tea afterwards in my dream kitchen, which at the moment belongs to her masseuse... she had a WORKING AGA! So gorgeous, and a big old table in the middle of the kitchen, and hanging things, and it was all just a bit fabulous... oh and cats! four or five absolutely beautiful cats wandering around! After that we drove around the area and had a look at Michelle's old house (it's been painted a different colour, but the tree she planted where her old horse was buried is still there), and stopped off for some shopping on the way back, and then it was off to Ramsgate to drop the car back to Raquel and Charlie, and to have a BBQ at their place.
Background, Michelle's parents are from Uruguay, as are Charlie and Raquel (technically friends of her parents, but ... family), so when they say BBQ, they mean Asado. Oh. My. God. Charlie's sister, who he hadn't seen in 40 years was visiting from the US, and other family came as well, so there were a whole lot of spanish-speakers and me, which was fabulous! And the food... oh my the food! Ok, the "bbq" was a purpose built woodfire oven, which I'm told is lit sometime in the morning, there is a metal wire fire cradle at one end, and sloping down from the top of that to the bottom of the opposite end of the oven is a rack... the fire is built up and allowed to go down, the coals are raked across the bottom of the oven and then the meat is added, and it cooks for 4 - 6 hours... Aussie BBQ's have nothing on this!

It was such a lovely evening... I only understood half the conversstion, although surprisingly more than I expected, and Michelle worked hard at translating, and when they remembered, everyone was good about speaking in English, but to be honest i preferred them speaking Spanish... I remember enough spanish from Uni to be able to follow the gist of the conversation, and they were such a delightful bunch of people, laughing all the time,
Charlies sister was HILARIOUS! dirty and raucous and fabulous, knocking 60 and utterly fabulous! I have to relearn spanish so that I can join in better next time Michelle comes back, and I kind of want her extended family here to adopt me, they're so lovely and fun!
Tuesday Michelle and I headed in to wander the shops of Newtown... and I finally got her into Gallery Serpentine to try on a proper corset... oh my... delish! Unfortunately the cost was prohibitive for her budget, but my goodness she looked gorgeous in a corset, and it made me happy to finally introduce her to the happiness that is a steel-boned corset tightly cinched :)

(it's a shitty quality photo - snuck while the sales-chick was talking to other customers - but check out those curves! Goddess!)
Wednesday Michelle packed, and we went out for brunch and then on to the airport... I cried after she'd disappeared through the customs door.. but it was such a lovely holiday, and such a wonderful treat to have my darling Goddess all to myself for a whole week, and to celebrate my birthday with her, and to get and give her lots of hugs and laughter, and to get naked with her and be drawn, and go shopping, and sit on the couch, and just be with her for a whole uninterrupted week... all kinds of awesome!
