Dear Sydney Bus Drivers,
I hope you are all enjoying your day off, and that your choice to take strike action today is effective in achieving your desired pay rise with acceptable conditions. I am full of respect for you folk, after all I'm screwed without you.
All the best,
Tam
Dear State Transit Authority,
You fucking suck. It took me two hours to get to work this morning, I was an hour late, and my pants are still drenched from the knee down an hour later so I'm probably going to get pneumonia. I know it's not your fault that it's raining today, but it IS your fault that I had to spend so much time in it. You've had ages to sort out this deal with the RTBU and you've obviously been sitting around with your thumbs up your arses which, okay, is fun and all, but it's not what you're getting paid to do! Bus drivers do a fairly shitty job, and have to deal with "the general public" all day every day, and in case you're not aware from up there in your ivory towers the "general public" are generally obnoxious, impolite, stupid, and frequently smelly. Especially at this time of year. I don't think a 6% pay rise over two years, without shifting positions towards casual employment, is an unreasonable demand. For fuck's sake, you made a $45 million dollar profit last financial year, and you're clearly not spending that money on improving services so why not spend some of it on improving conditions for your employees... at the very least it will help prevent your services from becoming even more unreliable and generally crappy. Oh, and new Premier (yeah you, the chick no-one had heard of before you were suddenly announced as Premier), here's a golden opportunity for you to prove that you're not just a political puppet. Take some initiative and sort this shit out. If you do I promise I'll try and remember your name and stop being quite so cynical about your appointment to the top job.
Yours in frustration and annoyance,
Tam.
