Happy Things
Feb. 7th, 2010 10:21 pmSaturday was lovely, late lunch with la familia urbana... Ange and Shane made a delicious feast of home made DIY kebabs, super delish! Then we piled into cars and headed into Ultimo to be in the audience of Good News Week taping. Gosh but that's a good fun night out for free! Sitting and waiting to go in, I was crowd watching, checking out the kind of people that go to a taping of GNW, and I decided that our group was by far the most interesting looking group there, even in a very mixed and varied crowd. We filled the entire second row in our section, and obviously made an impression on Paul McDermot as he dubbed us "the satanists in the second row" :) He also kept asking us if we had any drugs :) the show was good, lots of laughs. Guests were Liz Ellis, Peter Berner, Fiona O'Loughlin and Josh Lawson. Slightly bummed not to have been at the afternoon taping as they had Jimeoin, Colin Lane, and Tim Minchin... that would have been AWESOME! But yeah, ours was good too :)
Dad and Dolores got home from their honeymoon last night, and popped in this afternoon to collect Dad's car. They had a fabulous holiday, loved NZ, went jet boating and cruising and paragliding. I ended up giving them a gift voucher for a swanky seafood restaurant on the edge of the harbour in Queenstown, and they said it was beautiful and really lovely, although Dad told me off for spending as much as I did, and they both said they would never usually spend that much on a meal. I told them that's exactly why I did it, because if you can't have a decadent swanky romantic meal on your honeymoon then when can you! Also, this was their first holiday without the kids in 15 years. FIFTEEN YEARS. They deserved a lovely holiday and some swankiness :)
This week I start my two courses, Guitar for Beginners on Monday evenings, and Corset-making on Thursday evenings. There's a Lioness also doing the corset course which makes me look forward to it even more! I was a little bit anxious after receiving an email from the instructor asking everyone to send their clothing sizes so she could make sure everyone was standard for the patterns she's supplying. I emailed her back and explained that there's nothing standard about my sizing, and gave her my measurements. I got a reply back this evening, which in part said: i will grade a pattern up for you so it's ready. we go through a couple of fitting stages so don;t worry if the first go isn't a perfect fit.
there is no such thing as standard anyway :)
Huzzah!
Once I have the pattern, and have learnt how to make a corset, I'm SO making myself a corduroy corset, and a flanno corset :)
Right, must go and dig out my guitar!
