On the bus one night this week, city traffic was pretty well gridlocked, it took us 20 minutes to traverse the width of Hyde Park, which is what, 200m? So the discontented mumbling on the bus was gradually growing in volume, people were making phone calls about being stuck in a bus and running late because of the traffic, we were in the middle lane so no way was the bus driver about to let anyone get out and foot it, and there was much ominous sighing and grumbling and eye rolling happening. Over all of this I heard the faint sound of the bus driver humming, after a couple of bars I picked up the tune. Our 50 something Beary Bus Driver was humming the verse of "My favorite things" from Sound of Music. That alone made me smile. But then he got to the second verse (I was singing along in my head) and humming turned to whistling, by now I wasn't the only one listening and other people at the front of the bus were exchanging smiles. When he got to the bridge (of teh song, y'know, "when the dog bites..."), he finally broke into song, changing the words to something about when the traffic, stops the buses, and we're getting mad, I simply remember my favorite things, and then i don't feeeel, Soooooo bad! The whole bus laughed, or at least smiled, a few people applauded, and he went back to whistling and humming. The occassional awesome bus driver makes up for all the grumpy ones :)

I have a car at my disposal until next Tuesday night. I like having a car :)

I mastered the strum pattern for "Lola" by The Kinks the other night, and can almost change all the chords without gaps, which means I can play a recognisable version of Lola the song on Lola the guitar. Happy making :)
