The Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir Invite you to climb aboard the SS Pacific Queen for our latest concert:

“A PACIFIC AFFAIR” A magical musical cruise around the Pacific region on 5th November, 2005

The Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir has just returned from a 2 concert tour in Auckland. They performed with the Auckland Gay and Lesbian Singers (GALS) to tumultuous acclaim and they would like to share with you the songs, which were so well received in New Zealand.

Come and enjoy the choir singing a broad variety of music from Australia, New Zealand, The Philippines, Japan, China, Russia, Canada, The Americas and, of course, the South Pacific.

There will be some old favourites and you’ll be introduced to some great new music and a couple of numbers that had our Auckland audience splitting their sides.

Joining SGLC for these performances will be the Honeybees Gospel Choir

There will be two performances on Saturday, 5th November, at 2.00pm and 7.30pm at the Uniting Church, 264 Pitt St , Sydney, near the Town Hall.

Tickets are available from the Sydney Philharmonia Box Office on 9251-3115 or at the door on the day.

Pre Sales $25 ($15 Concession)
Door Sales $30 ($20 Concession)

Our repertoire changes for each major concert we do, they're usually themed (ie A Pacific Affair this time round).. and we usually do manage to work in what we call "choralography" for one or two songs when appropriate, it's fairly limited for this concert, although the Lumberjack song is a bit special!

Anyhow, the rep for this concert is:
* One Voice (commissioned for mass choir in Sydney Gay Games)
* Humming Chorus from 'Madame Butterfly'
* California Dreamin' (yep, the Mamas & Papas one)
* Pokarekare ana (NZ folk song)
* Past Life Melodies (Aust choral piece)
* I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair & Some Enchanted Evening (from "South Pacific")
* Song of the Volga Boatmen (Russian folk song)
* Kalinka (Russian folk song)
* O Siem (Canadian Inuit folk/pop song)
* The Lumberjack Song (Monty Python)
* May It Be (from LOTR soundtrack)
* Dandandsoy (Filipino folk song)
* Fuhng Yang Wha Gu (Flower Drum Song - chinese folk song)
