We have been informed that a threat has been made for a bomb to go off at Town Hall Station at 5.00pm today. NSW Police are aware of the threat, and whilst conducting searches, we understand police do not regard the threat as credible. However, should your travel arrangements involve passing through Town Hall Station, you should consider alternative routes.

This landed in my work email inbox about 10 minutes ago... as it was forwarded from a non-security, non-management person who got it from a friend in another organisation, I rang the police to see if they knew anything about a bomb threat, as soon as I said "Email forwarded in our organisation" she cut me off and said they received the threat this morning and have been investigating, they are patrolling the area, they consider the threat to be low-risk, however they suggest if it's possible to avoid the area then do so.

I'm never quite sure how to react to stuff like this.. part of me just wants to roll my eyes and say "oh for heavens sake, get a grip people!" but then a little voice nags "you're going to regret that if a bomb really does go off!" ... sigh ...

Emails forwarded are usually worth the paper they are written on.

In my ten years working in security, especially with a high amount of jewish clients, I am kinda numb to these kinda events.

Real bomb and terrorist threats happen all the time, they are just not talked about. There used to be armed security agents at all jewish services, not sure about now.

911 just meant we are now more afraid.

If they want to blow up a train station, they will, and there is nothing anybody can do about it.

How I get through my day is a trust that when my number is up, it's up and there is nothing I can do about it.

thanks, that's cheery.

I can't help but wonder at the timing of this supposed bomb threat, given Uncle Johny is busy pushing his draconian anti-terrorism laws through at the moment... a few subtle vague terrorist threats are bound to make the sheep more accepting of his particular extremist measures in "protecting" us from "those people"...

I agree and was thinking the same thing *cynical ... who me?*

.... but as you say there's that little voice that says 'but what if'

Sometimes I wish we could just put people with their 'ists' 'isms' and 'obias' up against the wall ...(and I don't mean for a good ole fashion boink either).....of course up against the wall in a non threatening and non violent way that is....(checks over shoulder for signs of new legislation being enacted)

Good luck with the travel home, see you tomorrow xoxo
