I got new boots... my old ones were falling apart, and I'd had them so long I'd forgotten what a bitch it is to break in new boots. Blisters ahoy!

Anyhow, I bought a new tin of polish last night, for to make them shiny... and I bought Kiwi, the same brand I always buy.

So I got home, and sat down with my new boots in front of me, and my boot love accoutrements, and opened up the new tin of polish, lifted it to my nose and inhaled... and nearly cried. They've changed it. It smells like Eucalyptus oil. And the consistency is thinner. The tin is identical to the old tin, I compared them, and I sniffed the old tin just to be sure I wasn't imagining things, the old one smelled of boot polish, that very distinct smell that i love so much... the new one smelled like Martha Gardeners Wool Mix Detergent :(

So, I made my new boots shiny, and it was satisfying to turn dull, lacklustre boots into shiny, glossy boots... but that glorious sensory overload, the heady smell, taste, texture of boot polish that I love so very much and which makes the ritual of polishing boots such a happy thing for me, that was missing.

It barely even counted as foreplay.


at least my boots are shiny though...

thanks to you last night doing my boots was fun not work over 2 hours they soaked up nearly a full tin of polish and another hour polishing them was a nice way to fill a night

one more buff before tonight and I will keep my fingers crossed about blisters

any hints on getting shoe polish out of you finger nails ?
